“Marriage is a union, exclusively between a man and a woman. That is how it has always been, and it shall remain that way. Macedonia does not need experiments with same-sex marriages or the adoption of children by same-sex couples”, said Blagica Lasovska from the VMRO-DPMNE in Parliament today.
She added that without any debate and without any arguments, the government, led by SDSM and DUI yesterday, publicly and “cowardly slipped her” the proposal for the legalization of same-sex marriages, which, according to her, could be an introduction for the future and it may enable the adoption of children without parents by same sex couples.
“Such legislative amendments were not included in their programs, neither SDS nor DUI, and therefore we assesed that they undermining the post-election period for certain legal solutions. VMRO-DPMNE has nothing against individual freedom and expression of sexual orientation, as long as it is in accordance with the laws”, says Lasovska.
She added that Macedonia is a traditional society, where family values are encouraged and that the MP’s proposal from the ruling majority is in itself, is contrary to the will and attitude of the overwhelming majority of citizens regarding same-sex marriages.
