VMRO-DPMNE: EC should clarify how and who threatened the ambassadors

-

Today, the ruling VMRO-DPMNE asked the European Commission to be more precise and to clarify how and who threatened international representatives in Macedonia, and to give a specific example.

“We share the concerns of the European Commission, VMRO-DPMNE is publicly asking how and who threatened international representatives in Macedonia and to give a specific example. The VMRO-DPMNE condemns hate speech and calls for violence, and all other political actors need to do the same. As we share democratic values, we expect clarification and specification concerning these allegations, so the responsible institutions can prevent such cases in the future more effectively”, said a statement from the VMRO-DPMNE.

Today, EC spokeswoman, Maja Kocijančić stated that the European Commission expects all parties to peacefully participate in the re-vote on Sunday in Tearce, and expects all political leaders in Macedonia to show great responsibility. She emphasized that the Commission firmly condemns any inflammatory and dangerous rhetoric, “including targeting the international community in Skopje”.

According to Kocijančić, such rhetoric “will only move the country further away from the Euro-Atlantic path, which its citizens want and deserve”.
