-

“Each party who adopts a decision to form a coalition without the party that received the most votes and the most support from the people in the elections, should know that at the same time they make such a decision, they will face problems in the future, while ignoring the will of the majority of citizens”. This is the position the leader of VMRO-DPMNE Nikola Gruevski announced at the meeting with Nina Suomalainen, Ambassador of the OSCE Mission in Macedonia, to the question, if SDSM were to form a government, would it be acceptable for VMRO-DPMNE.

In the party’s statement, which again is rich with details of the meeting, states that the remark that there are countries where sometimes the winning party does not join the ruling coalition. VMRO-DPMNE answered that in the past ten years and more that “inside and outside it was repeatedly emphasized that Macedonia is a very different case, which has the specificity of being a multiethnic society and that in such situations, it is extremely important that the winner among Macedonian voters and the winner among Albanian voters always work together and form a coalition.”

Regarding the formation of the governing coalition, VMRO-DPMNE emphasized that the situation in the country is mature for holding snap elections because of the narrow majority.
