The Director of the Bureau for Public Safety (BPS), Gorance Savovski, today met with Victoria Nuland, the Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs at the US State Department, at the reception camp for refugees “Vinojug”. She visited the centre to to meet the immediate challenges the Macedonian authorities face and the conditions in which the migrants are living.
At the meeting the current status of the migrant crisis was discussed, future solutions for avoiding the tense situation along the borders of the Balkan route, registration of migrants and possibilities for further cooperation in dealing with the migration flow in all countries affected by the migrant crisis. They also discussed the humanitarian aspect of the migrant crisis.
“At the meeting it was announced that the US welcomed the efforts to address the migrant crisis and they continue to encourage coordinated and complete solutions that are focused on the human rights of migrants, as well as promoting the correct and humane migration policies,” said the statement from the MOI.
