Veljanovski: We should leave future generations to evaluate our efforts

“The Referendum of September the 8th, in 1991 is our greatest modern victory and the will of our citizens realized. It represents our aspirations, principles and dreams of generations of both Ilindens. Today, we continue with reforms because of ourselves and the integration process “, said the Speaker of Parliament Trajko Veljanovski, at the reception on the eve of the feast, and looking forward to September the 8th, Independence Day of the Republic of Macedonia.

“In these 24 years, I believe we achieved a lot of positive things that benefit our citizens. Can we do more and can we do better? Yes, we always can. But still, I think we will be judged in a better way from historical distance. We should leave it to future generations to evaluate what we have done. I believe everyone would agree that success is much easier to achieve when we are united, whether it regards to domestic issues  or achieving the strategic goal of integration into the EU and NATO”, Veljanovski said.

He added that in these 24 years of independence in this multi-ethnic, multicultural and multi-religious society, we created conditions for full equality of all ethnic communities, and to preserve everyone’s identity and they all feel Macedonia as their homeland regardless of their ethnic or religious background.

The reception was attended by the President Gjorge Ivanov, MPs from the first parliamentary composition, current MPs, ministers, representatives of religious communities, the army, the diplomatic corps and many other guests.
