Last season for 15 euro fines, next year we’ll pay double for winter tires

-

Since last weekend, the citizens must wear winter gear in their car and have winter tires, otherwise they can be fined with 15 euros. This is the last season in which the citizens can get away with just 15 euros fine for not having winter gear, because, with the adoption of the new Law on Traffic and Road Safety, this amount would double.
Fining during the upcoming winter season will be in accordance with current rules for the winter equipment in cars, but, with the new Law on Traffic and Road Safety, whose preparation is in progress, the fines will be increased by 30 euros, i.e. anyone who would be caught without winter gear, will have to pay 45 euros fine.
With the new law, which is ongoing, 50 euros fine for failure to wear a belt for passenger, 100 euros fine for muddy tires, 250 euros fine for a parent whose child under ten years is cycling, as well as for not providing a ride to injured persons, 30 euros fine for roller skating on a roadway, 35 euros fine for transporting animals without protective boxes and 500 euros fine for exceeding the speed limit of 50 kilometers in urban areas and 70 kilometers on an open road, are projected. The amount of these fines is not European, because, according to the Directive for unification with EU legislation, fines don’t have to be uniform. The draft states that the purpose of this law is to implement new solutions.
