USAID to allocate seven million dollars to Balkan media

-

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Sarajevo presented a program to help the media in the Balkans. According to Serbian B92, the focus of the program will be on the development of online media in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo, and the program is worth seven million dollars and will last for three years.

During the presentation of the program, the US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Maureen Cormack, said that free media is based on democracy, and in the region, as the press warns, the media are under pressure from various sources. For these reasons, the program was designed as a regional program, and is aimed at supporting independent media and investigative journalism.

The program will help them start using new technology, to conclude partnerships for advertising and to work on the development of the content they broadcast.
