The coming school year is going to start on September 1, was decided at a Government meeting that discussed the initiative proposed by hotel owners that the summer vacation should continue until September 15 because of the low income in their sector in the months of May and June.
The Government’s decision during the press conference was announced by the deputy minister of education and science Spiro Ristovski, suggesting it was brought in consultation with experts and professors from the pedagogical faculty.
-We concluded that at this moment, almost thirty days before the start of the school year, is too late to decide on any corrections. We have understanding for the request of the tourism industry but we are also looking out for the best interest of the students. The school year, as always, will begin on September 1. I appeal to the students and their families to prepare for the coming school year- said Ristovski.
He announced that the Government and the Ministry of education and science and the Ministry of economy will conduct analysis in the period ahead, to find out the potential effects a change in the commencement date may have on how the school year unfolds.
