In express proceedings, with a unanimous “for” vote, the two sessions in Parliament finished – the constitutive session and the third session, which only had one point on the agenda, for the selection of committees of Parliament.
MPs from VMRO-DPMNE boycotted the constitutive session, where MPs were meant to elect a president, vice president, members and deputies for the Commission for Elections and Appointments of Parliament and its continuation after the thirty minute break.
However, after Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi constituted a quorum of MPs, he put on the agenda a vote on the Commission on Elections and Appointments. From the 62 MPs present, all voted “for”, there were no abstentions, and the commission was elected.
After that, the third session continued, which only had one point for a draft-decision on the establishment of permanent working bodies in Parliament, submitted by MPs Goran Misovski, Ejup Aljimi and Ilija Dimovski. This particular session was attended by a large number of MPs from VMRO-DPMNE.
As nobody signed up to discuss the composition of the committees previously agreed by the parties, Xhaferi put the proposal to a vote, with 92 MPs present, 91 voted “for”, and there was only one abstention, then the committees were selected.
This afternoon, the session will continue for electing the new government proposed by Prime Minister-designate Zoran Zaev, which should come to an end by midnight.
