The least the management of MEPSO can do after the scandal in which about 200,000 people in the country were left without electricity or without electrical appliances because of the situation “there is – there is no power” and variable voltage, is to submit a collective resignation!, reacted Atanasko Tuneski, member of the Committee on Energy of SDSM, at today’s press conference.
– Silence won’t save the managerial board of MEPSO from liability for foolish actions in cooperation with the Government and the spending of taxpayers’ money on baroque facades, ski-centers and celebrations instead of investing in proper maintenance of the electrical network. Here is the information: the total annual income of MEPSO for transmission of electricity is around 35,000,000 euros (34,827,406 euros or 2,141,885,489 denars). This does not include the splurge on facades, ski-centers, celebrations, but taxpayers’ money are meant to cover ongoing operating costs. But MEPSO spent a third of the money, i.e. 10.5 million euros, on baroque facade. But the company doesn’t spend only on the baroque, but it spread its interest to tourism. 2.6 million euros of taxpayers’ money for electricity are used for snowboard tracks in Ponikva and Krushevo! It seems as it is an agency for tourism development, not a company responsible for stable transmission of electricity – said Tuneski.
Tourism affinities of MEPSO don’t end with Ponikva and Krushevo, he reacts.
– The state-owned company gives itself the right to spend about 200,000 euros of taxpayers’ money for a feasibility study for development of winter tourism in Jablanica! 200,000 euros for 100 pages of paper, in which the wishes of the Government are inscribed, while in the vicinity of Jablanica, there are places that cannot be securely and timely supplied with electricity due to weak connections to the transmission network owned by MEPSO. The cherry on top of baroque and tourism cake of MEPSO is spending on advertising agencies and restaurants for the 10th anniversary of its existence, which it celebrated with luxurious food and beverages, 10-minute video, like it is a matter of a royal reception. In the study for the development of the transmission network made in July 2011, the management of MEPSO found out that urgent investment in the transmission network is needed in Ohrid, Struga and Bitola region. Here is that document (see photo). Not a single denar was invested to this day! So citizens pay for the management of MEPSO to satisfy the needs of Gruevski’s Government, to celebrate, to eat and drink, to go skiing and sledding, while about 200,000 people cannot see their loved ones in order to wish a Happy New Year to them because they don’t have electricity in the 21st century! How much will the adventures of MEPSO cost us? The price for the transfer and management of the electricity system of JSC MEPSO increased by about 270 percent from 2006 to 2014! And for what? For excesses, for risky and unreliable power supply? We demand immediate resignation of the managerial board of MEPSO! – said Tuneski.
