Intense writing of German media about threat of Greece’s exiting the Euro zone and Euro disaster if SYRIZA wins the elections didn’t initiate extreme reaction their idea reactions, dramatic analysis, comments or insults to Germany and to the Chancellor Merkel by Greece.
However, the response of these texts that strengthen the idea that the leader of SYRIZA will lead to disaster in the country came this afternoon directly from Alexis Tsipras, through column in the Greek edition of “Huffington Post”.
“SYRIZA is not a demon, not the great threat to Europe, but the voice of logic”, writes Tsipras at the beginning of the text, indicating that the citizens do not see the party as a threat but as a proposal for changing the current situation in the country. As he pointed out, the only ones who still see SYRIZA as a threat is the conservative government of Germany and of the populist media which constantly served warm dish of threats for Greece’s exit from the Euro zone.
“There is no reason for fear for the Greek nation, neither the European nations. SYRIZA doesn’t want a breakdown, only salvation of the euro. The euro can not be saved by uncontrolled public debt of its member states”, Tsipras directly responds to allegations that he would bring the European disaster.
The head of the most powerful Greek Left Party, which many compare to modern Greek Robin Hood, said that they don’t want to return Greece to 2009, but to leave all harmful habits and policies, clientelism, tax evasion, grey economy, gasoline and tobacco frauds which previously reigned under the baton of the two leading political forces.
Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras didn’t comment the writing of the German media. There was no direct statement. As Greek analysts and journalists assessed, the reaction is quite expected because sowing fear by foreign media, threats to Greek downfall only benefit his electoral campaign.
– These texts are just additional ammunition for Samaras. Samaras himself feeds a climate of intimidation, Greek downfall with Tsipras as a leader. That’s why he doesn’t respond to them – say analysts for META.
Big and strong titles for Greek downfall with SYRIZA and exiting the Euro zone in foreign media are not appearing for the first time. They also appeared in 2012, just before the then early parliamentary elections, when it was clear that SYRIZA will take over the baton on the political stage. Then, as now, EU officials sided with Samaras, clearly against Tsipras.
