Tourists from Serbia will not pay road tolls in North Macedonia this summer – Macedonian government provides 200,000 free toll cards

-

Nationals of Serbia traveling with private cars will not pay the road tolls in North Macedonia this summer. This decision is a response by the government of North Macedonia to Serbia’s humane act to give for free tens of thousands of vaccines against COVID-19 to Macedonia.

The Government of North Macedonia ordered the Interior Ministry to allocate electronic road toll cards (M-Smart Card) to Serbian tourists that will be entering the country through Tabanovce border crossing. The cards will be given away only to citizens of this country who will be traveling with passenger vehicles and would be transiting Corridor 10 during the period from the 15th of June to the 15th of August this year, informed the government’s press service.

The Finance Ministry was tasked with transferring assets in the amount of €2.8 million (MKD172 million) for the acquisition of 200,000 M-Smart Card electronic cards by the Government. Those assets that will remain unused will be returned to the state budget.
