Tomorrow there will be a new coordination meeting for electing a president of the Commission for elections and appointment issues

-

The parliamentary political parties didn’t manage to achieve an agreement for a president of the parliamentary Commission for elections and appointment issues and because of that, they postponed the coordination meeting for tomorrow starting at 12 o’clock.

The election of the president of the Commission for elections and appointment issues is actually setting a continuation of the constitutive session at the Parliament at which a president has to be elected.

Yesterday, the parties agreed upon only on the number of members of the Commission i.e. VMRO-DPMNE will have 6 members, SDSM – 5, and DUI and BESA will have one each.

According to VMRO-DPMNE, the president of the Commission for elections and appointment issues will have to be elected from the party with the largest number of MPs without an exception. This is something that SDSM does not agree with and its stance is that the president should be chosen by the majority in the Parliament.

The Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn and the three EU MPs, Ivo Vajgl, Eduard Kukan and Knut Fleckenstein, after yesterday’s meetings with leaders of parliamentary political parties announced that they demand to see in the forthcoming days a serious and responsible statesmanship and a quick forming of a new government.
