During the second day of the International conference “E-Society.mk – Open Institutions and Accountability” the Strategy of the North Macedonian Ggovernment’s Transparency 2020-2021 was promoted in whose preparation the foundation Metamorphosis and the Open Society -Macedonia Foundation took part in.
Lidija Cvetanovik of the cabinet of the Minister without portfolio assigned for communications said that the Strategy is a product of joint efforts between the Government and the civic sector which is a guarantee for achieving higher quality.
“In the period between December 2019 and December 2021, a number of activities are planned to increase the institutions’ transparency. The strategy with encompass all ministries, organs, public enterprises based by the government, shareholding companies that are government property. In a short time, the citizens will recognize new and unknown practices in the institutions’ operating” said Cvetanovik.
She also said that with this Strategy’s action plan, an organization unit is planed that will start working in December and each three months will be reporting to Minister Robert Popovski for the accomplishment of the Action plan. On the other hand, each six months he will be informing the government about what has been achieved, the weaknesses and all inconsistencies will be acted upon.
The implementation of the activities will also be monitored by the Work group consisting of seven members from the civic sector, media and the business sector.
According to Cvetanovik, this Strategy’s mission and vision is to increase the trust of the citizens in the government, institutions, and the creation of ambiance of transparency and trust, for which a training in the institutions is planned.
The Action plan envisages a greater freedom for the PR person in a certain institution since the authorized official will be delegating his obligations in relation to answering questions, singing of documents, etc.
