The SPP have opened an official investigation “Fortress” for the destruction of the illegal equipment for wire tapping at the MOI

The Special Public Prosecution have filed criminal charges for a new investigation code-named “Fortress” (Tvrdina). Prosecutor Lence Ristovska stated that in this investigation , five officials, and Directors from the Interior Ministry are among the suspected, who abused their official positions of office, when in the first half of 2015, they destroyed all the equipment for unlawful interception of communications.

Former Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska, is a suspect in the investigation, and is accused of destroying equipment worth 10 million euros.

The equipment was taken to a depot and compressed, then stored and looked after. From there the remains were transported to another depot where it was compressed for a second time, and then taken back to the first depot.

The media has reported that Special Public Prosecution are searching for a high official from the Security and Counter-Intelligence Agency (UBK) Goran Grujoski and are preparing charges for six more people suspected of a crimes related to unauthorized wire tapping and audio recordings.

The SPP yesterday requested a search warrant for the home of Grujoski, but the judge denied the request. The judge also rejected their request for custody of the suspect.

For now, we have learnt the SPP do not know the whereabouts of Mr Grujoski, and the police are searching for him.
