The Southern border ‘legally’ open, but actually it is closed

-

The Steering Committee’s meeting over the migrant crisis lasted late into the night, due to the new circumstances and measures introduced by the countries of the Balkan route, which was confirmed for “Meta” by the Center for Crisis Management (CCM) and the Ministry of Interior ( MOI) that they had not adopted new measures, but had confirmed the previous conclusions from their last meeting, i.e how many migrants leave Macedonia from the Northern border, will determine the number of migrants coming in though the Southern border.
The Ministry of Interior said that the crossing at quota 59 of the Macedonian-Greek border is not closed to migrants, but the flow depends on the situation in the other countries of the Balkan route, especially the north, as in recent days they have tightened their criteria for transit and admission for refugees.

“The Southern border is not closed to migrants and this is a wrong formulation. It remains open for migrants from Greece, however, the number of migrants leaving Macedonia in the North, will determine the number of migrants who will be allowed entry in the South, this is in accordance with the decision of the Steering Committee “, said the MOI.

Despite this situation, the Southern border has actually stopped the flow of migrants and now it is the third day they have not let anyone enter. The people in Idomeni remain in suspense, waiting in the camp on the Greek side of the border.
And in today’s bulletin from the MOI, it is estimated that yesterday not one document or certificate was published for the expressed intention to seek asylum.
