The session at the Parliament for the election of the new government has began

-

With a delay of half an hour with a discussion and trickery about the use of the Albanian language between the President of the Parliament, Talat Xhaferi and VMRO-DPMNE’s MPs, began the session of the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia for the election of the new government, which mandatary is SDSM’s party leader, Zoran Zaev.

Xhaferi has started the session in Albanian, by thanking all the people that have supported him, but also to those that were against his election as a parliamentary speaker, and then he continued in Macedonian, stressing that it was a gesture of hope that the Parliament and the MPs can accomplish all of the citizens’ expectations in a democratic way.

To this statement, there was a reaction on part of VMRO-DPMNE’s MPs, Antonio Miloshoski and Ilija Dimovski, who were addressing Xhaferi not as “president” but “MP Xhaferi.”

After the brief battle of words about the use of the languages, Xhaferi continued to lead the session in Macedonia.

VMRO-DPMNE’s MP, Ilija DImovski, has asked that the Parliament to adopt immediately, in an urgent procedure, the changes in the Election Code, that will allow the mandates of the mayors’ and the municipality’s councils to be prolonged, and the 15th of October to be set as a date for organizing the local elections.

Xhaferi has put Dimovski’s proposal for a vote but it wasn’t supported by the parliamentary majority. Otherwise, at the session were present all MPs including VMRO-DPMNE president Nikola Gruevski.

In front of the Parliament, it is noticeable the increased presence of the police.
