The protest “Woke up” the Prosecution: More suspects in the death of Tamara

More people are suspected of wrongdoing in the death of the little Tamara Dimovska from Veles, the Public Prosecutor’s Office – Skopje announced.

“From the actions taken, it has showed that their appears to be more suspects and people involved in committing the criminal offence of negligence and recklessness behaviour in the service of duty. 353-c of the Criminal Code. In the capacity as suspects, persons are invited to make statements before the competent public prosecutor. The investigation continues in the direction for full clarification of the case. After the completion of the hearing, a decision will be made by merit, and the public will be duly informed”, said a statement by the Public Prosecutor.

Civic activists and NGOs tomorrow at 12:00, will gather and protest before the Public Prosecutor’s Office marking the first anniversary of the death of Tamara.

Little Tamara from Veles, who had a serious deformity of the spine, died on February 9 last year, while waiting for an approval for a seventh operation.

Tamara’s parents waited an agonizing two and a half months for the bureaucratic procedures to be completed, as they were sending the girl for surgery abroad. Then the Health Fund waited for an official document from the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma or rather a new consultative opinion.

On February 24, 15 days after Tamara’s death, Directors of the Health Insurance Maja Parnadzieva-Zmejkova and Xhemali Mehazi handed in their resignations.

For little Tamara’s treatment, 30,000 euros was needed for a seventh surgery abroad. “Meta” published an article that the money spent on the Ferris wheel, which cost 15.5 million euros, could have saved 516 children like little Tamara.
