The project for building photovoltaic power station at REK Oslomej “restarted”

-

There is great interest by domestic and foreign investors, but for now, no substantial results concerning the two photovoltaic power stations at Mining and Energy Production Complex Oslomej in North Macedonia, which will be built on the location of the old coal mine as a public-private partnership.

At the tender, that was published last February and was open until May 2020, many domestic companies showed interest, but also companies from the region and worldwide. Over 40 companies were invited to take part in the online presentation of this project toward the end of September last year, and they were supposed to submit their offers toward the end of October 2020. In the aftermath, the Government was supposed to choose the most favorable bidder and the building of the power plants was supposed to start during this year.

Still, only two companies out of many that took part in the presentation submitted an offer. But, since mistakes were found in their applications, their offers weren’t accepted. The ESM state electricity producing company replied to a question posted by Meta.mk’s that the names of the companies will not be revealed.

“The Commission that was assigned for the aforementioned public procurement has analyzed the received offers. Both bidderhad mistakes i.e. omissions in the application procedure. The Commission informed ESM’s Managing Board which in turn informed the Government of North Macedonia. The Government ordered ESM to re-issue a call for a new tender, which now has a shorter deadline until the 12th of March 2021,” said ESM for Meta.mk

For these reasons i.e. because of the mistakes in the applications, as was stressed by ESM, this state commission has issued a new call on the 4th of February for public acquisition of a contract, upon the principle of public-private partnership for the building of one photovoltaic power station with a capacity of 2×30 MW (maximum of 2×50 MW) in the yard of the old REK Oslomej mine. The deadline for the offers is 12 March 2021, with a period of offer validity of 150 days.
