The private broadcasting services have told President Pendarovski that they are pleased with the amendments in the Law on Audio and Audio-Visual Media Services

President Stevo Pendarovski has met today with representatives of the Macedonian Media Association of Private National televisions, informed the president’s cabinet. The reason for the meeting are the draft amendments in the Law on Audio and Audio-Visual Media Services, that will help regulate the ways of -re-broadcasting of program services by domestic and foreign broadcasters on part of the operators.

The representatives of the national televisions have told President Pendarovski that the proposed amendments are totally acceptable for them and they are expecting these to be adopted by the Parliament.

“The representatives of the five Macedonian national broadcasting services presented their media’s arguments, facts and opinions regarding the procedure that began at the Parliament about the draft law on changes and amendments to the Law on Audio and Audio-Visual Media Services” said the press release issued by the president’s cabinet.

With these changes of the Law on Audio and Audio-Visual Media Services, the telecom operators are allowed to broadcast domestic and foreign television channels in a manner and conditions that are regulated by Article 143 of the Law i.e. with regulated copyright and related rights with the televisions.

Yesterday, President Pendarovski had a meeting on the same issue with the representatives of telecom operators during which he was acquainted with their opinions. Unlike the televisions, the operators do not agree with the proposed amendments in the Law on Audio and Audio-Visual Media Services. President Pendarovski has met with a delegation of the Macedonian Media Association of Private National televisions, informed the president’s cabinet.
