Whether negotiations between the working groups of the political parties, signatories to the Pržino Agreement continue today, depends on whether the ambassadors from the EU and the US, Aivo Orav and Jess Baily assess that there are chances for a final agreement.
From our sources within the negotiating teams, we have been told that they are waiting on the good will from the leaders of the parties to come to a compromise surrounding the difficult issues and disputes between the parties, such as the Interior Ministry’s powers within the technocratic government, that should be formed 100 days before early parliamentary elections.
According to party statements, elections are expected to be held at the end of November or the beginning of December.
Reportedly, the SDSM wants the Minister of Interior to have all the power and authority which belongs to the Head of the Police, including personnel changes, changes in the management and other structures and other similar changes, while the VMRO-DPMNE insists that powers and responsibilities should be shared with the deputy minister in the transitional administration.
Negotiators claim that at this stage, a leaders’ meeting has not yet been planned.
