Prior to the early parliamentary elections on the 11th of December, the ombudsman reminded the citizens of the importance of the voting right and the ways of accomplishing this right and its protection.

The ombudsman Idzet Memeti appealed to the institutions and all others about the obligation and the responsibility of creating real conditions for allowing, repeating and accomplishing the voting right of the citizens as well the rules for fair and democratic elections.

“Anyone has the right to decide about his or hers option without having to deal with the consequences. The citizens will decide for themselves. No one can do that in their name, through various forms of threats, blackmail or pressure. Citizens must not remain silent and should be active because by reporting of irregularities of any kind on time, they are protecting their right and simultaneously they are contributing to the democratic nature of the election process in its entirety”, said the ombudsman’s announcement.
