The newest and the best games inspired by the “Lord of the Rings”

-

The newest game from the “universe” of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien that will come out soon is “Gollum” – The Lord of the Rings™: Gollum™ on Steam (steampowered.com). There were also announcements for a totally new MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Game), which alike the announced TV series, would be set in the Second Age of Middle Earth, i.e. much before the events in “Lord Of The Rings”, or more cleary, in the time covered in the book “Silmarillion”.

But due to the disagreements with the companies, Amazon canceled this game. The ongoing version of a MMORPG The Lord Of The Rings Online The Lord of the Rings Online™ on Steam (steampowered.com) is an older game that functions like a free to play and pay to play, but the free to play option is barelly playable, although you can travel to places like The Shire and Rivendell in the game and you have to unlock the quests trough achievements if you haven’t payed. It is why most gamers don’t like this game.

But from the worst of the LOTR games we can go to the best. Probably the best game on this topic is the game The Lord of The Rings, Return of the King The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (video game) – Wikipedia a game that not only was a world hit for PC in its time but even today is fun and has a lot of replayability.

The game has a lot of animations and parts from the movies of Peter Jackson. You can play as Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, all the hobbits and there are also other characters you can unlock like Faramir. The game is outstanding and challenging, one of the best hack and slash action games ever, although today because of the graphics you can see that it is an older game.

But the next two game that are among the best have graphics that still look like next gen games and those two games are Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ on Steam (steampowered.com) and Middle-earth Shadow of War Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™ on Steam (steampowered.com) The story is set between the events of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings : The Fellowship of the Ring right between these two books comes the story of Talion-the main character. Although the first part of the games has so little story with only a few animations unlike the second game, here the main emphasis of the game is the action. While in the second game Shadow of War there’s also a lot of action and also there  are more animations with story. But most gamers agree that the atmosphere in the first game is better. Although there isn’t much story only the story of a cursed ranger from Gondor that hunts orcs all across Mordor join with the spirit of Celebrimbor the elven blacksmith that made the rings of power and the lack of animations there is a detailed encyclopedia  about the herbs and the items that you find with the character with which you can get to know the world of  Middle-earth even more.

The Nemesis system in both games is interesting where you fight different multiple orcs, captains, bodyguards to get to the orc that is your Nemesis -your arch enemy, that is parallel to the story and you can finish the story and the game will go on without end. The map reminds of the Assassin’s Creed maps and when you finish all the markers you get 100% completion of the game, but even after that the games continues with fighting different boss orcs where the attained skill and the abilities are broth to their maximum.

In Middle-earth Shadow of War there are alot more animations and more story, the combat is a bit different but there are similarities with Shadow of Mordor, there is also a online part of the game where you can avenge friends you have on Steam that were killed by a specific orc -same like in the first part of the game. But this time by the end of the game you gain many different abilities. One of the most interesting minigames in the game is assembling missing words on the Ithildin Doors. You are presented with a poem with missing words and you have a few words that you have to find the right spot for-to unlock the door-and behind every door there is a part of the Bright Lords set (the spirit of the blacksmith of the rings of power that you’re joined with). While the graphics in both games are great, most gamers have noticed that the combat is very much like the combat in the Batman Arkham games but the special abilities that you unlock in the endgame of these two games- differ a lot in a relation of fighting multiple enemies at once.

Another game worth mentioning from the older games is Lord of the Rings: War in the NorthLord of the Rings: War in the North on Steam (steampowered.com) its a good game that’s above average  where you play with 3 characters and change between them at will, there is a man ranger that uses swords and bows and arrows, a dwarf with an axe and a female elven mage. Most gamers play through this game with the ranger.

The game is relatively short but very well made and does not require a much better computer.

There are also many other games made on this topic but the recommended games here are among the best.
