The Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric, sent a letter to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church requesting that they be their mother church if they recognize the autonomy of the MOC-OA, reported Bulgarian National Television (BNT) on their show “Religion and Society“.

The letter was sent on November 9th to the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Church after a regular session of the MOC-OA in Skopje, where it was unanimously decided to refer certain proposals and requests to the sister church.

The Synod from Skopje asks the BOC to establish “Eucharistic unity with the renewed Ohrid Archbishopric in the face of the Macedonian Orthodox Church”.

With the eventual signing between the two churches, it’s required to establish unity between the two bishops, which will be the basis for “Eucharistic unity and the bishops of the other local Orthodox churches”.
