The Western Balkans Ministerial Meeting Began at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The sixth informal meeting of the ministers of Foreign Affairs and Energetics of the Western Balkans started this morning at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a host of the meeting is the chief of Macedonian diplomacy, Nikola Poposki.

At the first plenary session are participating the ministers of foreign affairs of Montenegro, Srdjan Darmanovikj, Kosovo, Enver Hodža and of Serbia, Ivica, who recently in an interview said: “I have to tell you that we are fools because we have recognized Macedonia under its constitutional name.”

Later, the ministers will be joined by the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, who at the moments is at a meeting with the ministers of energetics from the countries in the region.


„The Ministry Council for energetics of the countries from the Western Balkans, in order to boost the regional marker, for safety during the procurement, and for green and clean sources of energy,“ wrote Hahn on his “Tweeter“ account before the start of the meeting.

At the meeting, which will be attended by the State Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Vincenzo Mendola and the General Secretary of the Council for Regional Cooperation, Goran Svilanovikj, there will be talks about the increase of the cooperation of the region’s countries, especially I the domain of energetics, the rule of law and the fight against corruption.

This afternoon, the participants will be signing a memorandum, after which a press conference will be held by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Poposki, the vice-premier Vladimir Peshevski and the European Commissioner Johannes Hahn.
