The Judge who will judge Gruevski, was elected Acting President of the Criminal Court

The Acting President of the Criminal Court in Skopje will be Judge Tatjana Mikhailova, while Acting President in the Supreme Court will be Judge Snezana Bajlozova.

This was decided at today’s meeting by the Judicial Council, by a majority vote and the two female judges were selected at this functions.

Otherwise Tatjana Mikhailova will be the judge in the case against the former Prime Minister and current leader of VMRO-DPMNE, Nikola Gruevski, and former Minister of Transport and Communications Mile Janakieski, who are the prime suspects in the case of violence which occurred outside the Municipality Center in June 2013.

This is one of the first two cases that the SPO filed in September.

Mihajlova also was an investigative judge in the case “Liquidation”, who jailed journalist Tomislav Kezarovski for four and a half years in prison and caused strong reactions in public, finally the sentence was was reduced to two years.

The Judge of the Supreme Court Snezana Bajlozova, also in the past ten years several times came into the public eye, especially after the acquittal of Kondovo resident Agim Krasniqi, 10 years ago, and after passing “mild” sentences to members of the special police units who demolished disco “Process “in 2006.

Bajlozova was one of the candidates for the President of the Supreme Court together with Lidija Nedelkova, whose mandate expired yesterday, the former president of the Supreme Court, Jovo Vangelovski and Judge Besa Ademi.

The two female judges at today’s meeting were the proposed by the President of the Judicial Council, Zoran Karadzovski. He noted that Mihailova and Bajlozova are considered to have the highest grades in the Criminal and the Supreme Court, where they work. Members of the Judicial Council voted unanimously, with 13 votes “for” 13 and selected Bajlozova, however in Mihailova’s case nine members of the Judicial Council voted “for”, and four were against.
