On the 18th of May 2022, starting at 12:00 h in Skopje, the Metamorphosis Foundation will organize a three-day international conference for open data “Data and the Culture of Openness” as part of the USAID funded Civic Engagement Project.
The conference will contribute to defining the current condition of open data in the Western Balkans with a special accent on North Macedonia, stressing innovative and practical solutions based on open data that are able to exert social and economic influence and create a platform for dialogue and learning regarding the data and the culture of openness.
The conference will be opened by the Partnership and Resource Development Director at the Metamorphosis Foundation, Filip Stojanovski, the Acting Representative of the USAID Office, James Stain and the Minister of Information Society and Administration Admirim Aliti. Additionally, during the conference, both domestic and foreign experts in this area will take part as speakers, trainers, and panelists.
The invited practitioners, theoreticians and concerned sides will be discussing the condition of the open data in the public sector of both North Macedonia and the region.
On the first day, an emphasis will be put on the value of open culture and the role of open data as part of this culture. Through the sessions, the different aspects of open data will be revealed, from technical to political and valuable. On the second day, two workshops are planned:”Journalism with open data” and “Pathway for open data.”
During the third day of the conference, positive examples and success stories about the application of open data will be exchanged. Applications using open data will be presented and there will be a discussion about the open cities concept.
