The first shipment carrying dangerous waste from the Ohis plant arrived in Basel, Switzerland

According to the data received from “Ekocentar 97”, on the 14th of January the first shipment of waste chemicals in accordance with the project titled as “Removal, dislocation, disposal or neutralization of chemical mater” from OHIS Skopje plant. In total, 88 barrels were exported and 84 barrels were full of waste methanol whereas 4 barrels were full with acrylonitrile, informs the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning.

“The total net quantity of the chemicals in the barrels was 15.800 kg out of which 15.120 kgs was waste methanol, and 680 kgs of acrylonitrile. The notification of this export was evidenced consisting of gross weights and is 16.700 kg. This weight was also evidence by the VALOREC Services AG Basel on the 21st of January 2020 when the truck arrived and was unloaded. The state inspectorate conducted an inspection at Ohis plant and it stated that Ekocentar 97 company has conducted preparations and has loaded a second cargo with waste chemicals which will be shipped outside the country. This cargo exited the country on the 27th of January and is on its way to Basel. With the second shipment, a total of 88 barrels were exported with a net weight of 15.441 kg methanol” informs the press release
