The “disputed” electoral roll will be reviewed by the SEC on Tuesday at a public session

-

Today is the deadline for disputed voters to register for the electoral roll and it will be reviewed at a public session on Tuesday, the SEC told “Meta”. The Commission added that there will not be an extension of the deadline for inspection and registration for the electoral roll, except if Parliament approves amendments to the Electoral Code.

“We have no authority to prolong the deadline for the “disputed” electoral roll and initiatives for an extension should not be submitted to us, but to Parliament. If Parliament amends the latest deadline in the list, we will respect it, but changes will have to be made to the Electoral Code”, say the SEC.

An initiative to extend the deadline for registration for the disputed voters was submitted by the movement “Besa”, however, they would not say whether they had submitted the initiative to the SEC or Parliament.
We did not get a reply from Parliament either, but the Parliament’s official website shows that a session has not been scheduled.

Valjon Bela from the DUI party said that yesterday they had filed an initiative to the Constitutional Court to assess the constitutionality of the SEC’s decision to delete nearly 40,000 voters from the electoral roll.

“We think it is wrong to remove these voters and we have submitted an initiative to the Constitutional Court”, said Bela.

The SEC stated that as of today at noon a total of 7931 citizens, will be filed with the Commission after they had passed cross checks and field checks and registered with the SEC.
