The Department of State has full confidence in the U.S. Embassy and the Ambassador in Macedonia

The U.S. Department of State supports the work of ambassador Jess Baily, as was said in the reply to the question when asked by the “Voice of America” in Macedonian, after the speculations in certain media that the U.S. Embassy in Skopje doesn’t speak in the name of the US administration. The Department of State’s spokesperson, Mark Toner, was decisive when he said that there won’t be changes in the U.S. policy regarding Macedonia.

-The U.S. policy in Macedonia is to support the country’s Euro-Atlantic integration and the reforms necessary to advance that goal. That includes supporting the democratic reforms, the rule of law and the full implementation of the Pržino agreement-said Toner

Toner confirmed that the directions for the ambassador Baily and his team are “to work in partnership with the Macedonian authorities including the civil society to advance the US policy and the goals of U.S,” adding that the State Department has full confidence in the US Embassy and the ambassador in Macedonia.

The Department of State’s spokesperson stressed that the US, as friends of Macedonia, strongly urge all sides to respect the rule of law, the democratic processes, and Macedonia’s international commitments.

-We want to see a strong Macedonia, on its way to becoming a member of the Euro-Atlantic family– stressed Toner.
