The coronavirus causes a sharp fall of the real estate market in North Macedonia

The new data from the Register of prices and leases by the Agency for Real Estate Cadastre shows a drastic decrease in the trading on the real estate market in North Macedonia in the period between the 1st of April and 30th of June. In the second quarter of 2020, when the crisis caused by the coronavirus erupted, a total of 4.073 transactions were evidenced which is 3.085 transactions less than in the first three months of this year.

During this period, the Register of prices and leases had 3.197 real estate sales registered, which is a fall by 1.738 sales compared to the first quarter of2020. Regarding the leases, 876 leases were registered nationwide, which represents a decrease compared to the leases in the previous quarter by 1.347 transactions.

In the period between April – June 2020, 681 newly built apartments were sold which is 38 apartments less than the first quarter in 2020.

According to the statistics provided by the Agency for Real Estate Cadastre that includes the month of June, nationwide 6.436 apartments have been built but still haven’t been sold, and are offered on the real estate market. Unlike the previous quarter, during this quarter there is an increase of the number of unsold apartments by 4 apartments.
