The coordination of the parliamentary parties with the president of the previous parliamentary Trajko Veljanoski has been postponed and will continue tomorrow since the parties weren’t able to reach an agreement who will be the president of the Commission for Elections and Appointment issues.
After the session, the coordinator of VMRO-DPMNE’s MP group, Ilija Dimovski said that until now the president of the Commission has come from the party that was won most of the mandates. He stressed that if other parties agree, they are ready to propose and elect the president of the Commission for Elections and Appointment issues. He said that if someone thinks that a president can be elected by use of force, he will have to deal with the consequences. When asked by a journalist on what sort of consequences does he think, Dimovski shortly replied: ”you shall see in that very moment.”
SDSM’s General Secretary and MP, Oliver Spasovski said that they are protecting the principle where the president of the Commission should be from the ranks of the parties that have a parliamentary majority. He stressed that there weren’t any talks whether the president of this Commission will be from the ranks of SDSM or DUI.
At today’s coordinative meeting, an agreement was reached regarding the number of seats in the Commission for Elections and Appointment issues where VMRO-DPMNE will have 6 seats, SDSM – 5, and DUI and BESA will have one each.
At the coordinative meeting, a president of the new Parliament will have to be proposed and then the former speaker of the Parliament Veljanoski will set a continuation of the constitutive session during which a new president of the Parliament from the parliamentary majority will be elected.
