The Committee on Foreign Policy began its session, Zaev presents the agreement with Bulgaria

-

Today, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev presented a draft-agreement on good neighbourly relations with the Republic of Bulgaria at a closed session of the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy.

The meeting was attended by the Speaker of Parliament, Talat Xhaferi, the coordinators of the parliamentary groups and the presidents of the respective committees.

Zaev said that it is necessary to debate the draft agreement in the function of building joint national consensual policies in the af interest to all citizens.

“We wanted to open these issues in the way that suits them: First of all, to discuss them in the most important institution, Parliament, then at a Government session, then to inform the public completely and if all the procedures are completed in a positive sense, the Prime Minister will sign off on the agreement, and Parliament would ratify the agreement”, said Zaev, pointing out that he expects the agreement to be completed on August 1st.

He added that the request for a closed session was based on the Vienna Convention, but also because he does not want to disturb the current momentum of mutual respect with Bulgaria.

The session began after MPs verified their security certificates, and MPs who did not have such certificates signed appropriate statements.
