The parliamentary majority in North Macedonia has adopted the 2020 budget re-balance which will provide additional assets for strengthening the healthcare system including the realization of the fourth economic relief package for fighting the economic consequences caused by the coronavirus crisis.

With the budget re-balance, 243 million MKD were secured to deal with the coronavirus healthcare consequences. These assets will be allocated for the purchase of Remdesivir medicine. This also includes the acquisition of vaccines and COVID-19 tests.

The aforementioned sum of 243 million MKD also includes an award for all medical workers in the amount of 54 million MKD that are part of the treatment of patients infected with coronavirus throughout the country.

“Every day we are fighting for every human life, for each job position. With the budget’s re-balancing, additional assets were provided for the acquisition of quick COVID-19 detection tests, including assets for the medical personnel that is directly involved in the fight against the coronavirus. At the same time with the budget re-balance, additional assets for the fourth set of economic relief measures were provided that will allow revitalization of the еconomy by supporting the job positions, investments, and the export by companies and the vulnerable categories of citizens”, stressed Finance Minister, Fatmir Besimi.

With the approval of the budget re-balance, the implementation of the fourth package of economic relief measures will start. Through this economic relief package, 470 million EUR are diverted to provide direct support for the citizens, to save the jobs, and to provide greater support for the economy.

Around 70 million EUR are planned to subsidize salaries for 83.000 employees for October, November, and December, and 27.6 million EUR will be secured for domestic payment cards with the sum of 6.000 MKD planned to be granted to 283.000 citizens.
