A portion of the motorway that connects Tetovo and Jazhince is still blocked due to the large landslide that brought rocks and debris, brought on by Porojska Reka, during the storm that caught the Tetovo region. Motorists are detouring through the road to Poroj and are instructed to observe caution on bridges which have sustained damage.
From the Sector for roads of the Tetovo Municipality are saying that the motorway will be cleared in the course of tomorrow. Their announcement warns that the road must not be used by motor vehicles until the river bank of Porojska Reka is reconstructed.
– The bank of Porojska Reka which passes under the road, has been destroyed. First we must reconstruct the bank so the river may go its natural course- said Husein Demiri who is the person in charge of the Municipality’s road Sector.
The villages that have suffered worst damages, Shipkovica and Golema Rechica, still don’t have access to potable water.
– We are gradually clearing the ruins in the Teetovo region, that were brought on by the storm. A huge problem is the water supply in Golema Rechica and Shipkovica. The water system there suffered great damages and it will take time until that is fixed- said the mayor of Tetovo Teuta Arifi.
The search for the missing six year old Drita Ameti of Shipkovica is still underway. Last night in the vicinity of the toll booths on the Tetovo – Gostivar road, at the locality Brodishte, the authorities recovered the body of sixty one year old resident of Lisec, who had been missing for four days since the storm.
