“T-Mobile”: We haven’t jeopardized the privacy of users

-

Three days after META news agency asked “T-Mobile” the question how they respond to the statement of SDSM leader that it would be practically impossible to tap without mobile operators and after the publication of the article ”Absurd: Tapping through mobile operators is legal!”, we received the following response:

“As always, T-Mobile Macedonia works in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Macedonia. We comply with legal requirements prescribed by the Law on monitoring communications and the Law on Electronic Communications, which article 175 lists in detail the rights and obligations of telecommunications operators in terms of surveillance. T-Mobile Macedonia has not breached nor will breach the privacy of its users,” reads the statement.

According to Article 175 of the Law on Electronic Communications, operators are obliged to provide the technical conditions for the interception of communications in their networks.

Paragraph 2 of Article 175 requires the operators themselves, at their own expense, to provide and maintain the equipment, the corresponding interface and establish electronic communication lines for transmission to the competent institution (body) authorized for monitoring. Operators are obliged to ask for technical specification of the competent authority for the equipment, which identifies measures and standards for information security which are to be applied by the operator.
