Student Plenum: Time to break the silence!

-

“On 10th of December, which is also the International Human Rights Day, we invite you to a second student march against reckless reforms in higher education. Students march will take place on 10th of December 2014, Wednesday, at 12 am. The plateau of UKIM is selected as a gathering place,” reads the statement of “Student Plenum”.

“The march is a necessity in a time when the institutions won’t listen to us if we are not on the street. In a time when the power structures are starting to take look after their interests rather than ours, when authorities refuse to talk to us, when the revolt is responded with silence, not only do we have a legitimate right, but we also have an unavoidable duty to react. At such time, you’re right, Prime Minister, our job is to protest. It’s time to win back the freedom, to break the silence, to show dissatisfaction. It is time to take politics out of the headquarters of the political parties and to bring it to the streets. Politics doesn’t belong only to parties and party members, but it belongs to the society,” reads the statement.

They say that this march is a not national, ethnical, religious, political and appeal for it to be peaceful, without any national and political symbols.

“Student Plenum” believes that education is the torch of society as handed down by one generation to another and hence it concerns everyone.

“Therefore join us people, join us! We encourage everyone to march as an individual – only one significant booklet is allowed – the index! Students, bring your indexes!, reads the statement.
