Students of the technical faculties declared autonomous zone in the hall of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and urged all students to boycott formal lectures and join them.
– Today we are fighting for what constitutionally belongs to the university, and it is its autonomy. We are here to show that students are not only statistical number on the university and that student activism is alive and spread like fire. We are here to show that we are not naive and will not succumb until our requirements are met. We are here to show that we, as students and professors, should always be included in policy related to higher education. Politicians denied our existence, but we managed to unite thousands of students who marched on the streets. Allow us to be skeptical of their promises, allow us to seek a guarantee of what we were promised. Let us have this and you will see the importance of the autonomy of a university – say representatives of “Student plenum”.
Some students will tonight sleep at the faculty and say that will remain there until the amendments to the Law on Higher Education are fully withdrawn and groups for drafting a new law are formed.
