The new president Stevo Pendarovski was congratulated by the EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn, NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the Austrian chancelaur Sebastian Kurz.
“I look forward to the continued cooperation on the EU reform agenda in view of last year’s Council Conclusions setting the path towards opening the accession negotiations in June 2019” wrote Hahn on his Twitter account, further stating that Macedonia can count on EU’s continued support for the country’s European perspective in accordance with the nation’s aspirations.

NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that he looks forward to their joint cooperation on welcoming North Macedonia as NATO’s 30th member. Pendarovski was a national coordinator for NATO i.e. the person who had a close collaboration with Stoltenberg.

The Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz promised his support on the road towards the EU’s accession.
