SPO: First of July does not change anything, we continue with the investigations

Today, the Special Prosecutor’s Office has announced the fourth six-month report regarding the SPO work for the period from 15th of March to 15th of September this year. According to the report, what is characteristic and what distinguishes it from the previous ones is that in this period charges have been submitted for most of the investigations opened by the SPO.

“A total of 18 charges were submitted for 19 cases against 120 people for 168 crime cases. During the reporting period, a total of 7 new procedure investigations have been opened against a total of 25 people and investigations were taken over against 4 legal entities”, says the report.

Special Prosecutor, Katica Janeva, stressed in the report that despite the legal obstacle, which ended on 30th of June, this year the 18-month deadline where the SPO can submit charges, will continue to conduct investigations.

Appellate Court’s decision is emphasized in the report as extremely important, the tapped conversations can be used as evidence in the trial for the violence in front of the Centre Municipality from June 2013.

According to the report in the past six months, the SPO has conducted 142 new pretrial procedures, of which 49 on its own initiative, and 93 cases were established on the basis of applications by other applicants. Including the previously open 50 current pre-investigation procedures in the SPO, they are still working on 99 current pre-investigation procedures.
