The circle of candidates for a special public prosecutor has narrowed. It is expected that the prosecutor will be selected soon, found out Meta from the political parties that sent their action groups to implement the Przhino Agreement, which concludes that the person who will take on this role will need to get a green light from all four parties.
That the selection of a special prosecutor will finalize soon can be confirmed from the latest comments by the leaders of SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE, Zoran Zaev and Nikola Gruevski.
Zaev said yesterday for Utrinski Vesnik that SDSM Members of the National Assembly (Sobranie) will stop their boycott on September 1 and return to their benches. He added that the “Przhino Agreement will result in a series of legislative proposals that SDSM will vote for.”
– We will return to the Sobranie to vote the law for that will institute the special prosecutor. This law is included in the process because its composition and reach will impact the candidate who is selected to fill the position- commented Zaev.
Utrinski newspaper writes that Zaev did not want to release the names of legislative experts who were agreeable to the opposition. He said that the special prosecutor will have to be agreed upon by the four largest political parties and because of that he can not speculate names.
This weekend Gruevski said if the opposition is constructive, the process for choosing a special public prosecutor and a new cabinet in the State Elections Commission will be completed on time.
The return of SDSM in the Sobranie and the selection of a new public prosecutor are items that are part of the Agreement which Nikola Gruevski, Zoran Zaev, Ali Ahmeti and Menduh Taci had reached with the mediation of the international community in Macedonia.
