SpeakOut: Better mental health through anonymous conversations and debates

-

The improvement of mental health through anonymous conversation is the goal of the new platform that was recently put into use in North Macedonia. The SpeakOut application will be fighting the mental health stigma among the young through lectures and discussions and will be stressing the importance of the mental health.

“The idea behind this application comes from the ‘Generation Unlimited’ challenge and our wish was to help all those who need to improve their mental health. Through our long discussions and by sharing personal experiences, we concluded that the young need space where they can share their experiences, thoughts, and attitudes anonymously,” said Aleksandra Popovska, the app’s developer.

SpeakOut is a completely anonymous application that consists of a forum where the users can share experiences, open discussions, and leave comments to other users’ posts.

Another important part of the platform is the chat with volunteers, when each user can talk one-on-one with a volunteer about his problems and seek help and support. This makes the application special and different from the rest, said the people from SpeakOut.

SpeakOut’s team is expanding with new volunteers that will lead the initiative in the future.

The application is available for download from Play Store, and the young can follow the platform on social networks such as Facebook and Instagram.
