The Department of Border Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, during the year that is now behind us had extensive duties, primarily caused by the huge influx of migrants from countries of the Near and Middle East and North Africa stated the Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski after meeting with Police officers at the border crossing ‘Deve Bair’ which is the border between Macedonia and Bulgaria.
Minister Spasovski emphasized that this increase of work requires strong engagement of the border police, and continuous measures and activities, not only in terms of monitoring the situation, but also preventing all forms of border-crossing and other crimes.
“Trends and observations show that in the future, the border guards will face serious challenges, and responsible hard work. I am confident that law enforcement officers from the Department of Border Affairs will adequately and effectively cope with any future challenges and that the border is in safe hands”, emphasized Spasovski.
