Slovenian government official dismissed for not answering a journalist’s questions

The Slovenian government dismissed the Head of the Sector for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Tilen Smolnikar a day after giving an embarrassing interview with young journalist Lea Majcen, where he showed he clearly has no clue about his job.

When Majcen tried to interview Smolnikar on February the 16th, after a press conference by the Ministry of Infrastructure in Brdo Castle near Kranj, he showed an obvious lack of knowledge about basic information related to his job. Majcen tried to ask him ten questions about government expenditures for renewable energy and windmills, and he was unable to answer any of them.

In an interview for Croatian TV “RTL”, Majcen later said that the media outlet she works for decided to broadcast the interview because it was clear that the government official lacked the basic knowledge about issues related to his job. According to her, Slovenian taxpayers used to provide Smolnikar with a salary of 2,600 euros.

Majcen is a junior TV journalist who started work at “Channel A” six months ago.
