Today, the Ministry oh Health put out 6 of the 12 new ambulances which were procured through a tender from last year in December. They will be used by the Emergency Medical Services at the Skopje Health Centre, while the other six will be given to health centres in Struga, Debar, Kicevo, Krusevo, Kriva Palanka and Berovo, Portalb reported.
At an event today, the Minister of Health, Venko Filipche also announced new positions at the emergency medical services in the upcoming period, in order to resolve the second largest problem of these services, lack of staff. The biggest problem for the Emergency Services is of course old and debilitated vehicles.
“Recently, the Emergency Medical Service has faced many problems and has decided to resolve them systematically solve. One problem is the lack of vehicles, and there is also a lack of medical personnel, this will be solved by employing young doctors with licenses that are unemployed”, said Filipche.
The Minister of Health said that at today’s government session, a decision is expected to be made regarding the take over of eight vans from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, which will be reassigned.
“They are in solid condition and will not be used out in the field, but only for patient transportation,” said the Minister of Health, explaining that additional Emergency vehicles can be purchased because there are funds for this purpose leftover.
