Shilegov calls upon the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski to testify as a witness for the Inquiry Committee

-

On Wednesday at 11:00 am, members of the Inquiry Commission on the wire-tapping affair, are calling the Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski as a witness. On Thursday, Martin Protoger and Zoran Stavreski will be called, and on Friday Saso Mijalkov. On December 14 Gordana Jankulovska will take her turn as witness, and on December 15 Mile Janakieski, said today the President of the Commission, Petre Shilegov.

“During the day, as chairman of the Inquiry Committee, for the whole day I tried to coordinate with the Parliamentary Group of VMRO-DPMNE to be able to compile some sort of order and timetable of witnesses that should begin from Wednesday and from there onwards with the testimonies to the Inquiry Committee. Unfortunately, we failed. Until it was time to give this statement, in the archives of the Parliament none of those who were named as witnesses for questioning has not replied in writing so when you can attend the hearing, ie to be heard as a witness before the Inquiry Committee and because we have no written confirmation as President of the Commission, the public, and invited people under the rules and regulations of procedure to communicate the order of the hearing”, said Shilegov.

Shilegov said the schedule is a public call to the people who are witnesses, and in the following times to appear before the Inquiry Committee and give its own statement of facts, and the circumstances from the content of the published wire-tapped conversations.

From sources within the Commission, we learnt that no decision has been made on whether the hearings and testimonies will be in secret or open to the public.

According to the rules of procedure of the Committee, witnesses may request that their testimonies be closed to the public, but also it can ask members of the committee by a majority vote. Witnesses who will be called by the Inquiry Commission have no legal obligation to accept to testify.
