SEC: Voters’ list certificates will contain photographs of voters

-

The State Election Commission has announced today that all necessary legal measures were taken for meeting all the deadlines for carrying out the election processes, including the technical-organizational measures for prevention of eventual inconsistencies within the process.

“The ballots and the certificates from the voting list are in a phase of being prepared for printing along with other confidential election material that will be delivered to the municipality election commissions in accordance with the deadline as determined by the Election code”, announced Ljupka Guguchevska, a member of the SEC.

The Commission’s representatives have stressed for the first time at these elections, the certificates from the election will contain the voter’s’ personal photographs.

“The photographs will be of the same format as the personal identification documents or the voter’s driver’s license and they will serve to ease the process of voter identification and for eliminating potential abuse”,  said Guguchevska.

The SEC has announced that tomorrow is the deadline when all organizations, domestic and foreign, that are interested in and want to monitor the election process, should send a request for authorization.

The Commission has called upon election organs, the state, and the public administration to restrain from any kind of party activities until the end of the election process and at the same time, they encouraged them not to be afraid of any pressure that may come from their superiors and to report them.

“We appeal to all voters not to succumb to provocations by people that will try to bribe them and by doing, will abuse the right for independent and democratic voting. All voters to whom at any phase of the election process the personal right to vote will be violated can report to the State Election Commission in a period of 24 hours starting from the moment when the incident occurred. SEC is obliged to make a decision about every objection from the voters in a period of 4 hours from the moment after reception”, said Guguchevska and added that since the start of the election campaign, there is a free telephone line for the citizens (0800 555 44), where the citizens can report all eventual irregularities.
