After the Public Broadcasting Service Macedonian Radio and Television (MRTV) failed to air its main news programs yesterday on October 15, including the central edition of the TV news at 7:30 PM, as well as the news bulletins at 5 PM and at 10:30 PM, an internal investigation is under way to determine whether there was a deliberate intrusion into their network system.
According to a statement from the broadcaster, it was a serious technical problem.
“An inquiry is being conducted to determine whether it was a deliberate intrusion into the network system, due to existing suspicions that the protective mechanism may have been breached by external attacks and influences. All relevant state institutions will be involved in clarifying the case. The public broadcaster apologizes to citizens for being unable to air the main news editions of our program. Macedonian Radio-Television will continue to report timely and objectively, in the public interest,” the MRTV statement said.
Instead of the news, a cooking show was aired on MTV yesterday. Following the time slot for scheduled news program, the lineup announced a debate between candidates for the 2025 local elections titled “Local Elections 2025 – Election Confrontations,” but instead, the British drama film “Ladies in Lavender,” which had been scheduled for 11 PM, was broadcast.
