Skopje’s aid to Nepal is agreed

A meeting of the services of the City of Skopje, on which are arranged the possible assistance of the city for solidarity which will be sent to Nepal, which on Saturday was hit by a devastating earthquake that killed more than 3,000 people, is ongoing, confirmed spokesman of City of Skopje Nedelcho Krstevski for META.

He could not provide more details about how, when and what kind of help would the city deliver.

– The meeting on which the services discuss the issue is in progress and we will announce the definite conclusions once we have them – stated Krstevski.

On 26th of July 1963, a devastating earthquake struck Skopje, in which more than 1,000 people were killed and more than 3,000 were injured.

Skopje tragedy mobilized worldwide national governments, which sympathized with Skopje and generously helped to overcome the consequences of the disaster.

Meanwhile, i.e. after the publication of the text of META, the City of Skopje reported that Mayor Koce Trajanovski “will propose to the Council of the City of Skopje to adopt a decision to send financial aid worth one million denars, after the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday” on the next session.

The statement also reads that Mayor Trajanovski sent condolences to those killed in the earthquake.
