The tapped phone conversations and their contents are under the authority of the special public prosecutor. He or she will be the only person who, relieved from any pressure from Nikola Gruevski, can lead an independent and unbiased process that the public can believe in, said at a press conference the spokesperson of SDSM Petre Shilegov.
He said that “the unprofessional work ethic of Marko Zvrleski is in direct collusion with Nikola Gruevski” and added that “Zvrleski wants to project an image that has done actual work.”
– The courts haven’t started a single process half a year after the evidence emerged that can be heard in the tapped conversations, which is cited in the charges that were brought up. Zvrleski put out the Report only after it was agreed that there will be a special public prosecutor who will deal with the cases that involve politicians. Zvrleski hides their responsibility in his Report in which he hasn’t mentioned Nikola Gruevski once, let alone to have him summoned for a deposition, despite the fact that has been involved in the scandal with land parcels on Vodno. The Prosecutor’s office hasn’t treated any of the instances that have seen charges pressed, especially the recording that unveils criminal activity with the highway construction, in which Gruevski is involved, where he is asking for 15 and 18 million euro bribes. Except for Mijalkov, none of the other high government or party functionaries who have been embroiled in the scandal, have been called for a questioning. None of them has been placed under supervision measures- said Shilegov.
SDSM’s spokesperson added that they are all still holding their functions which allows them to influence an investigation, to have influence over witnesses or to destroy evidence. Shilegov said that Zvrleski should not and must not bring his verdict regarding the cases.
– Zvrleski lacks moral and professional integrity and credibility. This is exactly why we have asked for a special public Prosecutor. Nothing is clear yet, nothing has been concluded. The only thing that Marko Zvrleski can do now is submit his resignation- stated Shilegov.
